All-American Girl

All American Girl by Meg Cabot

Sam Madison is the gothy artist at her school. Popular? eeh not so much. Dating? In her dreams.

Why Sam thinks her life sucks:

1. She is selling celeberty pictures (she had drawn)

2.She got caught selling the pictures

3.She has to go to Susan Boone's art school for art lessons

4. She has a crush on her sister's boyfriend, Jack

5. Her older sister, Lucy is the queen of the school

6. Her younger sister is a certified genius

7. She just saved the president from being assasinated

8. the whole world thinks she's a hero (even though she doesn't think so)

9.She has been appointed teen ambassador to the UN

And 10. the president's son, David might just be in love with her

I liked this book alot, i finished it in 2 days :D! Its intresting how this story is told, because after every few chapters there is a list that Sam has made like:
Why I Can't Stand My Sister Lucy
Why I Want To Be Gwen Stefani
What Not To Do At A Press Conference
etc.
and instead of a perfect girly girl, the main character is different, not in the "in" crowd, gothic, artist, and into ska music girl.

Palace Of Mirrors

Palace Of Mirrors by Margaret Peterson Haddix

Cecilia knows that she is the true princess, and somewhere in a tiny box is her sparkling tiara.

She knows that Desmia, a regular peasant is in her place as princess until the evil ones who killed her parents are vanquished.

Even though Cecilia knows that she is the true princess but she's tire of studying and not fulfilling her rightful place, as princess, so eventually she and her best friend Harper runs away from their village and head to the famed "Palace Of Mirrors"

When Cecilia finally meets Desmia she thinks that she will be able to be princess right away, but there's a catch; Desmia was told and believes a whole different story!

I liked this book because it was very descriptive and detailed. Also Margaret P. Haddix is an awesome author, she also wrote Among The Hidden, and Running Out Of Time.

And this is not like any fairytale you ever heard of.

But when Princess Carina comes to her school, Carina hatches a plan, and she and Carina trades place, not only do they look alike this will help both of them, for Carina, a night with her rockstar prince, and for Julia, a day to be princess and money to save her home (Carina is paying her to do this).
But a twist happens, while Carina is with her rockstar prince, she acidently fell asleep in the band's car and got shipped off to Texas,
and Julia is flown away to a forgien county!
I really liked this book, it's a modern fairytale, but i liked Beastly better, (scroll down or go to the next page for summary) its interesting how the girls tell the story, and how they both admit that, yes, being princess is not really all that great. Kate Brian is an awesome writer with her neat descriptions.

Teen Idol

Teen Idol by Meg Cabot

Ordinary nice to everyone Jenny Greenley is good at keeping secrets, she's the school's secret advice colummist. She's so good at keeping secrets, that when Luke Striker, the hottest Hollywood star come to her small town to research a role of his upcoming movie, and Jenny, is in charge of keeping his identity secret (his "undercover" name is Lucas Smith). But of course, when Luke arrives he doesn't make Jenny's job easy and soon everyone, the school, the town, the paparazzi, etc knows that "Lucas Smith" is actually Luke Striker, and Jenny is caught in the middle of all of the chaos.

I loved this book, i finished it in 2 days :). this is approx. 293 pages long. I liked this book because its easy to relate to (besides the Luke Striker part) and its entertaining. I like romance books that are not too gushy, and this is a good one, Meg Cabot is a great writer, her books are very good and entertaining, (ps she wrote the "Princess Diaries".

"Brisk and bubbly. Snappy and fun."

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid #3 The Last Straw

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid #3 The Last Straw By Jeff Kinney

Greg Heffley is a wimpy kid, and always will be one, face it, but someone just needs to tell Greg's dad that.

Greg's dad, thinks that he can toughen Greg up, and makes Greg join organized sports like soccer, or do other "manly" things.

But of course, Greg is easily able to avoid his dad's effort to change him, but when Greg's dad threatens to send Greg off to military camp, Greg realized that he has to shape up...or get shipped out.

This was a funny and entertaining book, this is the last book in the 3 book series (i think)

so yeah, i like the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid series because Greg acts like any regular not so popular kid, so it's easy to relate to, and of course it's funny, and it's very realistic.

Praise for Diary of a Wimpy Kid:

"Move over Harry Potter... There's a new set of titles dominating the bestseller list for kids' chapter books, and there's nothing 'fantasy' about these."

-Andres Yeats on NPR's All Things Considered

"A big hit with reluctant readers and anyone looking for a funny book."

-School Library Journal

"Perfectly pitched wit and believably self-centered hero..."

-The New York Times

Yankee Girl

Yankee Girl by Mary Ann Rodman

Alice just moved from Chicago to Mississippi, and she's the new girl that is called "Yankee girl".
The accent and southern customs are the least of her problems, the year is 1964, when the Ku Klux Klan is going strong and just to make it worse, Alice's dad is an FBI agent, who was assigned to protect black people who are registering to vote, and FBI agents are one of the main target of the KKK (Ku Klux Klan).
Later, Valerie Taylor, a black girl, joins Alice's class, the 1st 2 black students of Parnell, as a result to the new integration law. She is shunned and bullied by the popular "cheerleaders".
Alice yearns to be popular, and a part of the clique called The "Cheerleaders", who is lead by the tart tongued Saranne, but soon Alice realizes how hard it is to the this clique, and figures out that Valerie, the other outsider, is a likely easy friend, but as it seems Valerie is not looking for friends, and if Alice was to join the clique, she would be rivals and be part of the way that the "Cheerleaders" are making Valerie's life miserable.
Later a tragedy-filled event happens that turns a characters life around.
Will Alice and Valerie be friends? Will Alice be a part of the "Cheerleaders"? What is the tragedy-filled event? Read Yankee Girl to find out!

I liked this book, it's one of the best Historical Fiction book i ever read, (i haven't read much, but this is still a very good book) it is realistic, and you can relate to the characters, and how they feel when Valerie comes. This book I read for a Historical Fiction project I'm doing, and surprisingly this is a better book than it sounds.
