The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games take place in the future in the ruins of North America known as Panem. In Panem, there is a rich capital and twelve poorer districts. As a punishment from previously rebelling against the capital, each year, each district have to send one boy and one girl, between the age of twelve and eighteen, who are know as tributes, to the Hunger Games; a brutal battle to the death that is filmed as entertainment to all the districts. This story is about Katniss Everdeen, a sixteen year old girl who voluteers to take her younger sister Prim's place in the Hunger Games, also participating, is Peeta Mellark, a boy Katniss knows from school and once gave her bread that risked his chance of being beaten by his parents.

When Katniss and Peeta are shipped off to the Capital, where they meet the other tributes and are shown to all the districts. During the showing, Peeta declares his long-time undying love for Katniss, Katniss thinks this is an act to gain more sponsors from the districts, this is important because sponsors can send gifts to the tributes during the games.

And soon the Hunger Games begun, as Peeta and Katniss fight together to survive.

I absolutely loved this book, it was simply amazing. I love Suzanne Collin's book, especially the Hunger Games and Catching Fire and Gregor the Overlander series.
